Dr. Amanda Seay now offers Invisalign and Inman Aligner for patients desiring to straighten one or more teeth without having to go through braces!
We are excited to announce Dr. Seay has obtained both Invisalign and Inman Aligner Certification. What this means for you is that we now offer ways to straighten your teeth in addition to our other cosmetic options! So many of our patients ask what can be done about their smiles. To make it easier for our patients to have the smiles they desire, we offer limited orthodontics. Sometimes it is as simple as fixing a shifted tooth and sometimes they need full mouth veneers and crowns. Other occasions call for slight teeth movement before they can do their cosmetic work. Two of the most common options adults choose to straighten their teeth are Invisalign and Inman Aligner. For those patients who are not candidates for either, we will continue to refer to the orthodontists we value and trust.
What’s the difference?
Invisalign works by creating a custom series of aligners (thin, clear retainers much like a bleaching tray) that are designed to fit your teeth perfectly. Many adults like the idea of Invisalign because it enables them to straighten crooked teeth without the social stigma of being an adult with braces. Invisalign can be used for limited and some comprehensive orthodontic cases. The aligners are worn 24/7 except to eat (anything other than water) and clean. New aligners are needed every 2 weeks, with visits to our office every 4-6 weeks.
The ideal patient for Inman Aligner treatment is an adult who had braces when they were kids (or maybe they didn’t), and they quit wearing their retainers and now their bottom teeth or their top teeth have started to shift and crowd again. Someone who only needs to straighten the upper or lower front four teeth is an ideal candidate for the Inman Aligner. Unlike Invisalign’s series of clear trays, the Inman Aligner is one clear acrylic retainer with a small but visible metal bar. Adjustments are made every two weeks. While the retainer is more bulky than trays, treatment time with the Inman Aligner is often shorter.
Both systems are great options and we are glad to evaluate your cases and make a recommendation as to which would serve you better.
