Prior to moving to Charleston, this patient had a cosmetic consult with her previous dentist. She began orthodontics in preparation for her case but due to the upcoming move, had the braces removed before finishing her orthodontic treatment. After getting settled in Charleston, she came to our office ready to move forward with her smile design. Unfortunately, her existing root canal therapy had perforated the root of the lateral incisor, which could not be saved. She had the tooth extracted and a bone graft and implant were placed. Well, things don’t always go according to plan; her bone graft did not take in her bone defect and the implant was loose. After careful evaluation it was decided that her best, most conservative option was to place a cantilever bridge rather than another bone graft and implant for the lateral area. Her treatment was completed to include single crowns premolar to premolar with a cantilever bridge for the lateral incisor. It was finished just in time for the holidays!
