For some time, our office has been involved with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry Charitable Foundation (AACDCF) through their program, Give Back a Smile. We have had the pleasure of helping a GBAS recipient directly and now we are participating through their whitening fundraiser. How can you get involved? Simple, just get your teeth whitened! A portion of the fee will be donated to GBAS! We’ll be participating through April 1st, 2015. Roughly 20% of the program’s annual expenses are financed by the GBAS Whitening Fundraiser, which raises money through walks and other money-raising events conducted by participating dental practices and dental labs. You can view these publications to learn more about our past experience with GBAS:
The AACDCF assists in rebuilding the smiles and lives of adults who’ve suffered dental injuries from domestic and sexual violence, through compassionate cosmetic dental services and support programs.
Give Back a Smile
The Give Back a Smile (GBAS) program launched May 27, 1999. Since then, AACD member dentists, dental laboratories, and other dental professionals have volunteered their time and expertise pro bono, to restore the damaged smiles of more than 1,400 survivors of intimate partner violence for a total dollar value of more than $14 million. There are currently more than 250 applicants that are being treated throughout the United States and Canada.
We are excited to announce that GBAS eligibility has expanded from only assisting survivors of intimate partner violence to also serving adult women and men who have received dental injuries to the smile-zone only from a family member or sexual violence.
